Jackson, Miss. -- Timotheus Brandon, 32, of Jackson, pled guilty today in U.S. District Court to the charges of felon in possession of a firearm and making false statements on an application while attempting to purchase a firearm, U.S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis announced.

Brandon will be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Carlton W. Reeves on December 11, 2012, at 9:00 a.m., and faces a maximum penalty of 45 years in prison and a $1,250,000 fine. A federal grand jury returned an indictment against Brandon on July 10, 2012, charging him with three counts of convicted felon in possession of a firearm and two counts relating to false statements made on an application while attempting to purchase a firearm.

In March, 2000, Timotheus Brandon was convicted of the felony of receiving stolen property in Hinds Count Circuit. In 2010, although a prior convicted felon, Brandon sold various firearms on several separate occasions to a pawn shop in Jackson, Mississippi. In August, 2011, he went back to the same pawn shop and, while attempting to purchase a firearm, falsely stated on the firearm purchase application that he had never been convicted of a felony.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Jackson Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mike Hurst is prosecuting the case.
